My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge &Cardstock Rose Tutorial

I did this page for the My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge #17. The challenge had to focus on "Lessons Learned" and I wanted to use the Holly Jolly collection and I had these cute pics of Speckles from last Christmas, so I chose to journal about learning a lesson from our dog!

Also, I had these little tiny rosebud blooms, we get them in the MCS kits and they are so cute, but sometimes I wanted a bigger bloom, so I made my own and used the bud for the center. I love making handmade blooms, mine aren't the best looking ones around by any means, but they are fun. So I thought I'd show how I made them.

It only takes a few basic supplies:

First cut 3 circles using any template.

Then divide into 4 sections and cut into petals. Cut a little more from one so that it's a little smaller than the other two.

Using a toothpick, piercing tool or any thing pointed curl the petal tips downward.
Then take each bloom and using a pencil with the eraser end just bend aroud the end of the pencil.
They will look something like this:
Then, just play with the petals, layer each one and place the little bud in the center!!!

November kits from MyCreativeScrapbook! Basic Grey & Fancy Pants

WOW.....this months' kits from MyCreativeScrapbook are awesome!!! Brimming with all kinds of goodies, paper, trim, sparkly things....all kinds of treasures! I got to play with the Main kit that features Fancy Pants and the LE kit featuring Basic Grey's new Curio. Both kits were so much fun!

Starting off with the Main kit, featuring Fancy Pants "Happy Together". This first page is a picture of my 3 favorite things, my kids!!!!!

This one is our dd and one of her Senior pictures. The background paper is Pink Paislee's Parasian Anthology, and I just used chalks for the look that I wanted. The rest is FP. The little green roses are the buds, I used green cardstock to make them full blooms.

This is our oldest ds, he hates having his picture taken, so I don't have near enough layouts with him in them!!! LOL!
This is our youngest ds with some friends, just being their usual "goofy" selfs. The color just would not show up right in this page, I guess because of the little dots?!?!?!
This is me, when I was little, so you can see how versatile this kit is, girl pages, boy pages, heritage pages......anything!!!
This is another one of our dds Senior pictures. They were taken back in 2004, I took the photos on our front porch!

Now, this is the LE kit and lots of Basic Grey Curio goodness!!! This first one is our dd and her then fiance and one of their engagement pics. I used a larger picture for this layout and I really liked the look.

This one is a picture of Jenna, she is doing "PinUpsforSoldiers", it's a non-profit for our Troops. They do calendars and it's retro looking like the old 50's pinups. You can check it out at www.pinupsforsoldiers.org

This is a beautiful Fall picture, showing the beautiful colors of North Georgia!!!

This is another pic of our dd, I used black cardstock to make the little roses and trimmed them with Ranger stickles.
This is Jenna & Sam again, this is a huge old "carving" tree, it is really beautiful!!!

This is me with Jenna, I love pictures of me with the kids, but I take terrible pics!!!!
Both kits were full of all kinds of things, and the other kits are just as gorgeous. Please go check them out at www. mycreativescrapbook.com and please check out some of the DT blogs and see what they did with the kits too!!!!
