Challenge Time at OUAS!!!

November Challenge - Group B Reveal

It's time for the second half of the reveal over at OnceUponASketch, and this is a great sketch, and if you've never joined in the fun, now is the time, there is no journaling criteria for this one, it's "anything goes"! Please check it out at the OUAS blog and see all of the beautiful work from the DT and also our Guest Designer, the beautiful and talented Heather Jacob!!! Here is the link to the blog.

Also, I should say, there are FABULOUS prizes given each month, I think more prizes than any challenge blog and more than lots of mfg. contests!!!! So please join us!

Here is my project and then below is part of the blog entry with the sketch.

I had so much fun putting this page together! This is one of my all time favorite sketches. This is my sweet little cousin Addy! I loved that she is holding the shell up to her ear!

I used Imaginarium Designs chippies, the title and the medallions, I embossed them with  Suzy West blue embossing powder. I stamped some shells with an old stamp set from Stampin Up and used 3 colors of the embossing powder. I also drew the little sand dollars with my Zig Writer marker. I also added drops of Glossy Accents to look like water droplets.

Here is a close-up of the shells.

The chicken wire was also drawn by hand with my Zig Writer markers. And I spritzed the page in places with my Mister Huey's Custard mist. I used Websters Pages netting in a couple of spots as well.

My journaling is writen on a tag and tucked behind the photo.

miscellaneous blooms and pearls

Hey everyone! Time to show you what the second half of our amazing Design Team has put together for your inspiration for our November challenge :)

Theme: Anything Goes..

Yep! You read right.. No theme this month. You are free to create a layout based on whatever theme you like.  You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must include SOME journalling AND the sketch below.
Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Flower Tutorial

Okay, everyone that knows me will tell you that I love flowers. I don't get to buy many of the beautiful Prima, Petaloo, ManorHouse and other blooms. So I try to duplicate the look of some of them. I just got some of the pretty little Prima Overture blooms, they had a soft watercolor look, so I decided to try to make my own. I was pretty happy with the result, so I thought I'd share with you

Below you will see the blooms in the pack and 3 of mine beside it. I used watercolor pencils and a waterbrush.

Here are 3 of mine on the top row and the 3 original below them, not exact, but good enough for me!

To start off, use a punch or handcut three 5-petal flowers, and three 3-petal ones. I used white cardstock, and you want to use a thinner cardstock to manipulate the petals easier.

Next, take your watercolor pencil and color in sections of the blooms, color three petals the brighter color and 2 yellow. On the three petals, just vary the sections. You also want to color both sides of all the blooms.

Next, use the waterbrush and blend all of the blooms. Blend on both sides, they will look something like the ones below.

Now, while they are still damp, you want to curl the edges, all the same direction. You can use a stylus, a pencil or whatever you are used to. On one of the 3 petal ones, cut one petal seperate and curl them like shown.

You can make the base of the blooms by drawing a star shape with 2 shades of green and blending it the same way.

Attach each layer, alternating the petal direction, then adhere to the green bottom. This is what the finished bloom will look like! Pretty close to the real thing!!! I love the softness of the colors!!! I used Stampin' Up watercolor pencils, the colors are great!

Now, I'm going to use them on a layout! I am going to play with doing some more variations of these little blooms, they were really easy!!! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you liked the tutorial!!! Let me know if you did!

MOXXIE Blog Hop Time!!!

Are you ready for another fun Moxxie blog hop?  For November we are focusing on the Forever Family line.

Here is my page:

 and here is the collection:

This amazing color palette is perfect for family portraits, heritage photos, and even a pretty fall-themed layout! The front sides of the paper are title papers for each member of the family, and the back sides have a variety of both masculine and feminine patterns for you to use to accent your photos. Card makers and papercrafters the designs are small, so even on a cut down piece of paper, you are still going to get the colors and textures of the large design.

In addition to these great papers, the embellishments will help give your creations a family-type flair. Use them as titles, journaling spaces, accent pieces, and embellishment clusters to finish off your pages.

The Moxxie Muses have put together some awesome ideas for this line and you could win the collection.  All you have to do is hop through the blogs and comment on each one.  For an extra entry, comment on the Facebook page and "like" us if you have not already.  How simple is that?   Comments need to be made by Tuesday evening and the winner will be announced on Wednesday on the Moxxie Blog.  Our international customers and fans are free to play along if you are willing to pay the shipping if you are the winner of the prize.

Here are the blog links for hopping.  Just start at the top (Moxxie blog) and work your way down the list until you have visited all eleven blogs.  We are so happy to have you joining us and hope you enjoy the projects we have made.

Happy hopping!

 Patti Hamil   you are HERE

Here are some closeups of some of the details on my page.

Here you see how I used the die-cut circles and added some layered blooms and ribbon.

Here I used one of the stickers with more blooms. I used buttons for the centers.

Here you can see where I cut some of the flourishes from the patterned paper also. And of course more blooms!!! I also used my brown ZIG marker to do the "faux stitching" around the border of the page.

I hope you like the page, and I hope you are enjoying the hop, please don't forget to visit each blog, I'm sure you will find something that inspires you!!! All of the Moxxie lines are so versatile and easy to work with!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
